OnePlus has recently released the OnePlus Nord which is the first smartphone in the Nord lineup. This lineup won’t a flagship killer and it will be focused on giving an affordable smartphone with the feature that a common man will need. Finally, the pre-booking for OnePlus Nord has started and it will be released from 4-Aug-2020 on Amazon. But now the question comes is it worth buying? The answer to this question depends on the need for the user. So let’s see what all things you need to know before buying OnePlus Nord.

The thing needs to be considered before buying OnePlus NordOnePlus Nord

Camera:

OnePlus has spent a lot in Marketing of the product to showcase the Quad Camera Setup. It is packed with 48MP main camera, 8MP wide-angle camera, 5MP Depth sensor, and 2MP Macro camera.

  • The 48MP main camera sensor is taken from the elder brother OnePlus 8. So the pictures taken by the main camera will have the same clarity as you get on OnePlus 8.
  • The 8MP wide-angle camera is available which you a field of view of 119Β°. But the color composition of the images captured from the wide-angle camera is not the same Main camera.
  • The 5MP Depth sensor is available to give you a better blur for your portrait shot. But when you get the device in hand you will observe that even when the depth sensor camera is covered, portrait shots have the same level of details. This means the camera is not used completely used.
  • The 2MP Macro lens should ideally give you a better macro shot. The images taken by the 2MP macro lens are not good looking. The quality of the images taken by the main camera and cropped looks better than the shots taken by the 2MP macro lens.

This helps us in concluding that Quad Camera Setup is only for marketing purposes. The 5MP & 2MP camera sensors are added but will not be used.

Display:

OnePlus Nord comes with a 6.44-inch fluid AMOLED display with 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution with a pixel density of 408ppi. It has a refresh rate of 90Hz and it will surely give a smooth experience as already offered on Oneplus 7/7Pro/7T/7T Pro/8 series.

Battery:

The device will be coming with 4115mAH lithium-ion battery and support wrap charge 30. This will give you a full day usage with 5 hours of screen on time. Additionally, the Wrap charger will be included within the box.

Chipset:

Oneplus Nord is packed with Snapdragon 765G processor which has the support for 5G as well. The process is not as fast as compared to the 8XX series but for the normal day to day task you should not feel the difference. It will only slow down while playing heave games.

Phone Body and Material

OnePlus has the glass sandwich design as used by other Oneplus Devices. But to cut down the costing of the device, the aluminum body frame has been replaced by plastic. In comparison to aluminum, plastic is weak and easily breakable. You might have already seen the device getting failed in the durability test. When strong pressure is applied or if by mistake you sit on the phone, then due to that pressure it might damage the internal frame resulting in mishappen.

From our point of view, Oneplus Nord is a good device that will fit and give what you need on a day to day basis. The camera is “OK” at this price point but we hope it to improve via the software updates. OnePlus has been known for the improvement of there devices. It’s up to the mark in the battery department. In terms of physical structure, it’s quite weak and you would need a strong case from protecting it from physical damages. The best part of having the OnePlus device is the Oxygen OS, which is the lifeline of the brand. It will give you the best experience as compared to other OEM’s. (6GB RAM version will be available at 24999 from September)

But If you are looking for speed then you have the option to go for the OnePlus 7 series. The price for them is reduced a lot since the launch. Oneplus 7 serious is surely a better option than the Oneplus Nord. (Until it’s in Stock)
